Jolly Good Show(s)

- "Damages".  How did I not hear about this show before Ben told me about it??? Probably one of the top 2 or 3 shows on TV at the moment.

- "Dexter".  The third season ended with Dexter marrying his girlfriend. This dark (very dark) drama/comedy (I refuse to use the moronic phrase "dramedy") contains some of the best and most clever writing on television.

- "Weeds". Another great show from Showtime. Mary Louise-Parker is not only very pretty, she is also a great actress and (it turns out) also has great comedic timing.

- "Lie to Me". I don't usually like shows this stylized and "mainstream" but this one is really very good. If you can get past the sometimes-stiff TV-quality-acting and extremely annoying TV-crime-drama music (marimbas and Casio keyboards abound) and typical "cool-kinda-indie-music-sort-of-music-video" segments, then it can be an enjoyable watch.

- "Flight of the Conchords". This show is now the funniest show on television, followed closely by...

- "Important Things with Demitri Martin". Martin's deadpan/insight/ observation-based comedy makes him possibly the funniest comedian around right now.

I'm sure there are others that I can't think of at the moment. Ben? Best shows on TV right now?

While I'm saving season 4 for this summer, Battlestar Gallactica just finished it's 4-season run, and it is perhaps the best sci-fi series to ever grace the boob tube.

Joss Whedon's new show on FOX, Dollhouse, while slow to get going, by the 5th episode has an interesting mystery and mythology around which it is built, and the characters are all layered and decent actors. Some plot holes, but it's still early in the first season.

Finally, this is Scrubs 8th and final season, and while it is not up to par with classic Scrubs seasons, it is the best season since season 5 and still one of the best comedies on network television.

I'm saving Lost for the summer as well, but season 4 of Lost was one of its best, so hopefully this current season will not disappoint.

And thanks for spoiling the end of Dexter season 3.

Oh my gosh and I just realized I failed to mention NBC's great Thursday night lineup.

- The Office. Still a classic. Still funny.

- 30 Rock. Alec Baldwin is hilarious. Who would've thought?

- Kath and Kim. Although this show is definitely geared towards women, it turns out to be a pretty funny show as well (John Michael Higgins steals every scene he is in).

as to Dexter... the detail given (Dexter's marriage) is really probably the LEAST interesting thing that happens that season...
