Snub!

Unbelievable. After crafting a film to be praised for a complicated, deep, and culturally relevant story, beautiful and unbeforeseen photography, tremendous performances by high caliber actors, a pounding and moving soundtrack, and arguably one of the greatest action films ever (because it was so much more than an action film), Chris Nolan and The Dark Knight were not nominated for best picture or best director. Unbelievable. Return of the King, but not The Dark Knight?

The Dark Knight was nominated for quite a few other positions besides best picture or best director. But I can think of a few reasons for why the Dark Knight didn't get nominations for those particular positions:

Reason 1: Slumdog Millionaire
Reason 2: The Academy Awards are lame.
Reason 3: Christian Bale's Batman stole a lot of the movie's potential.

Hmm. I thought this blog was about boring things. Doesn't my fake knitting site belong on your list of other cool things? Or is your cool things list not include things that are boring? Isn't that hypocritical? I think I'm potentially just as boring as your sibling's blot.

Oops, hey, how did all those typos get in my boring comment?

Who let her in here?

Oh yes, and that's a pretty huge snub.

And let's be honest here: Milk wasn't THAT good. It was a good movie. But not THAT good. Not better than "The Dark Knight".

And let's be honest here: not that groundbreaking. People aren't afraid of seeing homosexuals in movies anymore (helllloooo Capote anyone?).

I don't even know who the Academies are sucking up to this time. I don't care at this point. They proved long ago to be incapable of picking each year's ACTUAL "best" picture.
